After misfires with past savory flavors like smoke and kale—coffee felt cursed. But paired with creamy vanilla and plenty of chocolate,  Affogato seemed worth the risk.

Known as affogato al caffè in Italy, this dessert magically contrasts sweet ice-cream and bitter coffee. But does the spell work in granola✨?  Vediamo!

“Truly a perfect 10.” “Rare that I eat granola alone”.“Not ashamed to say we have ordered eight more bags”—a magical spell indeed! And yet now we are at Whole Foods—sober business realities must prevail.

In a national study, 23% said coffee is a favorite ice cream flavor. But keep on reading… Vanilla came first with 59%. Chocolate second with 51%. Wait—aren’t those also core flavors in Affogato? How magical is coffee-flavor really?

So for once—I am undecided. Yes Affogato is a perfect 10. But should it materialize on the shelf next to Classic and Ginger Zing? Or vanish in a puff of smoke forever?
